James James “Jim” Herdt

James “Jim” Herdt, Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (Retired), is the CEO of Herdt Consulting, Inc.  Jim transitioned from active duty in April 2002 with 35 years of active naval service.  He served the last four years of his active service as the most senior enlisted member of the United States Navy.  As such, his responsibilities included leading program and policy development for an enlisted force of over 400,000 personnel.  Additionally, he served as a personal advisor to the Chief of Naval Operations, Secretary of the Navy, Secretary of Defense and U.S. Congress on all U.S. Navy personnel policies.

Tom Hefty
President (FLTCM, USN, Ret.)

Tom Hefty, Fleet Master Chief (Retired), served in the U.S. Navy for more than 26 years including 8 years of flag-level executive service. Tom held various positions of command leadership to include tours as Chief of the Boat, Command Master Chief and Fleet Master Chief for CINCLANFLT. After retiring in June 2002 Tom joined Herdt Consulting, where he now serves as President.

Pete Thielen
Senior Vice President Strategy and Business Development (CMDCM, USN, Ret.)

Pete Thielen is Herdt’s Senior Vice President responsible for Technical Solution Architecture and Business Strategy. After honorably serving the U.S. Navy for 26 years at submarine and surface commands Logistics, Naval Reactors Logistics, and three Command Master Chief tours.  In 2000, Pete entered the Public Sector Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) where he served as a Logistics, Project Systems, and Financial Accounting Specialist for the U.S. Navy ERP Program. Pete successfully architected critical Navy enterprise solutions in Maintenance, Logistics, Finance, Project Scheduling, Strategic Force Planning, and Business Intelligence. Pete is a Certified SAP® Application Consultant – Accounting (FI).

Eric Miller
Vice President Operations

Eric Miller, Vice President is responsible for day-to-day company operations and business administration. Eric is a U.S. Navy veteran with more than 20 years of business experience in the public and private sectors. After his transition from the Navy, he spent five years as a project director and contract manager before joining Herdt. Eric possesses a Master’s Degree in IT from Troy University.

Kevin Fitzpatrick
Executive Director, Program Manager

Kevin is a NAVSUP alumnus with 31 years of increasingly complex supply chain management and logistics experience in the Navy and DoD. In 1999, he was selected as a member of the Senior Executive Service (SES). A dynamic leader with extensive experience in transformational change, Kevin was consistently sought out to develop best business practices in order to significantly reduce cost and improve customer service. Kevin has successfully implemented two ERP solutions while working for the Navy. In his last five years before retiring, he served as the Executive Director of the Department of the Navy’s Office of Special Projects, a second echelon command reporting to the Commander, NAVSUP. He also served as the Director of the Navy Engineering Logistics Office. Kevin is a member of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), a member of the DoD Acquisition Professional Community, and he holds a Top Secret/SCI clearance. Prior to joining Herdt, Kevin served as a contractor providing direct support to the NAVSEA ERP Business Office (NEBO) implementation team (2009-2012). Kevin joined Herdt in December 2013 and now serves as Executive Director and Program Manager (PM) for Herdt.

Donald Barrett
Executive Director, Program Manager

Before joining the Herdt Consulting team, Don held leadership and senior consulting positions in both the Federal Civil Service and the private sector. Prior to that, he served as a senior enlisted leader in the U.S. Navy for 20 years in a variety of leadership and management positions. He is a recognized expert in human performance improvement and process improvement, team building, change management, organizational development, mentorship, human resources and coaching. Don is a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, a certified Project Management Professional (PMP)® and holds an MBA from New Hampshire College. Don currently serves as Executive Director and Program Manager (PM) for Herdt.

Jim Herdt II
Executive Director, Operations and Security

Jim Herdt manages business operations and serves as the Facility Security Officer (FSO)/Cyber Security Lead for Herdt Consulting, Inc. Jim spent 17 years with Sears in both corporate and field-level management assignments. During that time, Jim managed logistics and inventory control across multiple lines of merchandise for 700 retail outlets, led marketing systems development initiatives, served as District Manager, and Store General Manager. After Sears, Jim worked for the Navy Exchange as General Manager in Patuxent River, MD. Jim left the Navy Exchange to serve as Project Manager on several business process improvement efforts spanning Department of Defense, Federal, and commercial sector projects.  Jim holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration from The University of Central Florida and an M.S. degree in Communications from Roosevelt University.
